buying a fridge...help me please
What are some things you see as a must? We know we want to do a freezer on the bottom but behind that we don't really know what we want. Any suggestions on brands, styles etc. Thanks
Just to add...I want to do stainless look a like...

Re: buying a fridge...help me please
How much do you want to spend?
What color? Black White or Stainless
French door frig or bottom freezer Do you want Ice and or water in the door
I generally like GE or Samsung. We have a Stainless Steel Samsung French Door frig with the water and Ice on the door and we love it. Samsung is owned by GE. The only difference between GE's model and the Samsung is the placement inside the frig of the Ice Maker. My brother has the stainless GE Profile and he loves them.

Re: buying a fridge...help me please
We're going fridge shopping soon, so I've been looking at some of the floor models. I think it's a cool idea with the shelves that can be height adjusted with a crank on the front, so if you have a tall bottle or container, you can just crank a shelf up or down to make room, without having to empty the shelf, remove it, and put it in a higher notch.

A must for us was size, freezer on the bottom and ice maker and water spout on the outside with locking controls.

Re: buying a fridge...help me please
adjustable shelves filtered water/icemaker in the door cold cut drawer we wanted separate levers for water and ice ( we are strange, but that was a big deal to us, we both hate hitting the button everytime I want ice water!)
we bought a whirlpool in September, we were very limited in selection based on the size we needed, good fridge, but its a little noisier than I would have liked... If our house was set up differently, I don't think I would care, it was annoying at first, but I am pretty used to it now!

Re: buying a fridge...help me please
I just bought a Whirlpool Gold "stainless look". The stainless look is great I am soooo glad I went with it.
We needed a side by side and specific size due to our kitchen layout. I always do a search on consumer reports and what ever sites I find to get recommendations on appliances. Whirlpool Gold kept showing up at or near the top of the list. So far so good.

Re: buying a fridge...help me please
We have a freezer on the bottom and are happy with it.
We were limited due to space so ours is on the smaller side.
It's an Amana and we are happy with it.
My mom has a slightly larger GE one and she is happy with it.

Re: buying a fridge...help me please
We wanted something as big as possible, we had the luxury of redoing our entire kitchen and customizing things around the cabinets and appliances...we ended up getting the Samsung 29 cu ft fridge which is one of the largest on the market, BUT we had cabinets built around it bc it's bigger than the conventional fridges...but I must say we moved two fridges into one, its' phenomenal!!!
It's stainless and I'm cleaning my DD's fingerprints off of it every day though

Re: buying a fridge...help me please
When we buy a new fridge we will not get a side by side fridge/freezer. Fridge size is just too narrow.
Either freezer on top or bottom.

Go out and get yourself a bottle of WD 40 and use a microfiber cloth and squirt a little on the cloth and then wipe it clean..

Re: buying a fridge...help me please
We have a KichenAid Architect Series. Besides for the fingerprint issue with 2 small kids we love it. I wanted a fullsize fridge(my DH actually sunk ours into our wall so our cabinets would be completely flush), drawer freezer, pullout drawer(to fit platters/cakes), water ice maker all on the inside(I don't care for the look on the outside). Its been almost a year since we redid our kitchen and KitchenAid has proven well for us so far.

Just a question when you want a little ice or a glass of water you have to open the whole fridge door to get it?

Its a 2 second step so that I don't have to look at it everyday on my fridge from the outside. Its just my personal opinion, I don't care for the look of them

i have a samsung as well...its HUGE...i redid my kitchen as well and made the spot for the fridge as big as possible. i too moved 2 fridges into one and have space left over. i have a french door with the freezer at the bottom. ice and water in the door, locking controls, adjustable shelves, engery saving with LED lights. if you want the water and ice in the door make sure that the space IN the fridge isnt compromised....i looked at a lot and the space that the water/ice feature took up in the fridge was just insane.
