Buying a Mattress....

we are looking for a King size....any idea on how much for a decent one?

We saw one we liked for $1100 but I was hoping to not spend THAT much.

1-800 Mattress was about the same for something comparable.

Both salesman said if you go under $1000 you are compromising quality....

Re: Buying a Mattress....

Years ago I bought a great king mattress from Sterns that was under $500 for mattress/boxspring.

We have a Simmons Beautyrest now that was about $2500 and frankly, so not worth it!! It's wearing VERY unevenly (and we've only had it about a year).

Re: Buying a Mattress....

We bought a queen size last week from 1-800-mattress and it was about $1200.. From what we saw, the better mattresses all began at about $900 (queen size), so naturally a decent king size is going to be a little bit more expensive...

Re: Buying a Mattress....

if it was a king size that you liked for 1100, I would get that. We paid so much for our queen size, I love it but it was so much money

Re: Buying a Mattress....

We spent about $1200 on our king. It was a half-off sale at JCPenney's. Definitely worth it. Sleep is the most important part of the day!

Re: Buying a Mattress....

we'd love to spend that kind of money, but if we do, we'll have nothing left in the bank, so we're trying to find the best deal.

There is a Simmons outlet near us that we are going to check out

I think we did it on a 0% finance plan special. Ask them about financing!

My DH is the manager for Rockaway Bedding. I know that there aren't any of those stores down there in Georgia. However, he said that's a good price for a mattress and that if you do go under 1000 dollars, you ARE compromising quality.

He also said to stay with the name brands: King Koil, Sealy, Simmons, Serta, Spring Air.

Good Luck Shopping!

Re: Buying a Mattress....

Memorial day we just bought a mattress. We were due since it was 9 years since we got one. We ended up spending ..... hold onto your hats ............................................................3100.00 that is if we exchange it value it actually came out to 2500.00 mattress box spring and all. we had a platform bed. I totally know it is so expensive. I gave up talking cause Dh was set on the mattreess. We got natures rest from Spleepys. It does have a good review and since we bought it I have had not one bad nights sleep. But we did look around. I did notice that Rockaway Bedding is def. cheapest and will beat the compettion. What about 1-800-mattress?

Re: Buying a Mattress....

we went to 1800 mattress with the Rockaway bedding sale flyer in hand - 800 mattress beat every price, and those were their standard prices so I'd say 1800 mattress is cheaper.
