Buying High-end Kitchen Appliances-Viking

Does anyone have experience buying high end kitchen appliances? Are they worth the price tag?

Where did you get yours and would you recommend what you have?

Buying High-end Kitchen Appliances-Viking

We have a Wolf stove and a Sub Zero fridge and ice maker waiting to be installed. My husband works with contractors and got them for a good deal, otherwise we'd never be able to afford them. We've tested them out and they are incredible appliances. We are excited for the added value to our house if we ever sell. I also love their look more than other name-brand appliances.

Re: Buying High-end Kitchen Appliances-Viking

I've used them before at family member's and friend's houses - yes, they are absolutely amazing. I love to cook, cooking is something I enjoy, so for me using a stove like that is just a JOY.

Shop around - yes, they are high-end but that doesn't mean you can't get a good deal. I like to shop the big stores against the family owned stores -- usually, the family owned places will match or beat the big stores, you get more personalized customer service, and they can sometimes do things like wave delivery fees, or give you added discounts, etc.

A few on LI that I have personally used and loved:

Two Guys Appliance in Centereach

Harry's Discount Appliances of Brooklyn

Both are wonderful - you just have to be diligent and organized. Make sure you have the exact name, specs, model numbers, type, etc. of what you want so when you call them you can say: Viking Fridge, Counter Depth, Stainless, Item# 94587, Serial #78457875 or whatever the case may be... and state: Lowe's is selling it for X and Home Depot is selling it for Y.

That's how it works Chat Icon Feels great to haggle and get a good deal - and this is what they do, they are used to it, so don't feel weird! GL!

I have a huge Subzero fridge, a 6 burner Wolf cooktop, a Wolf double oven, 2 Marvel beverage/wine fridges, a Wolf microwave drawer, a peykel and Fischer dishwasher drawer, and a Bosch full dishwasher. I love them and definitely think they are worth the price. The only thing I would have done differently would be to replace the dish drawer with a second full regular dishwasher.

Our last house had all Viking appliances and I loved cooking on the stove. Everything else was crap..but that was the brand.
I can't wait to get my Wolf stove when we re-do the kitchen in a few years.

I had the Wolf with gas grill, it was OK..not enough BTU's & a ***** to clean. Sub-Zero fridge, no complaints.
In our new house I have the Thermador Freedom Tower fridges, they are separate units & amazing. If you really, really love to cook as I do, look into Capital. Not such a "name" yet. It literally takes my breathe away & cooks like no other. Its the same oven/range they use on the show Chopped, except I got the big Mama, 48" grill, griddle, double oven & unsealed burners. Professional yet half the price of my last Wolf. Also have a Miele dishwasher which is a piece of crap that is going back Friday & being replaced with a Boshe.
Once you go to this level of appliances, you can't go back.

You might also want to try Plesser's in Babylon - they were the only place I found that discounted my Fisher & Paykel fridge.

we got our stuff from Appliance world in huntignton - they were very helpful

we have a thermador double oven, frnch door fridge, 4 burner gas stove and electric griddle, and thermador dishwasher

when we bought they had a deal that if you bought a fridge you got a dishwasher

we have a sharp drawer microwave - at the time sharp made all the microwaves - 2010- the wolf was just a different cover - so not worth the extra cost to us

we had the wolf electric burners and sub zero in our boston condo - while I liked the extra low ont he wolf burner the temp is not as even as the thermador star burner

also we had the stainless steel fridge sub zero and I hated how heavy the single door was - so I went looking for a French door - but I wanted cabinet front- no fingerprints

We have a wolf stove and hood. Wolf sets its prices so you will not be able to get them discounted, what you can get discounted is service contracts etc. Every so often there is a rebate. We got ours from PC Richards. I LOVE our stove.

Appliance World staff is very knowledgeable and they have a great showroom. Tell them Ken Kelly sent you, and they'll take good care of you.

We are also dealers for the high end brands you are looking for--SubZero Wolf, Gaggenau and more. If you want to see how they look in live kitchens, stop by our showrooms in Williston Park (large showroom) or studio in Sag Harbor.

We are happy to answer any questions. See the blog as well: Kitchendesigns.com
