Yay or Nay? FM me with opinions. The process is a lengthy one. My entire neighborhood did this without the necessary C of O. This is our forever home...well at least until 2037!!!

I would get it. Although you say you are staying for a long time, you never know here life will take you....

Skip it! We just did. We turned our 2 ar garage into a big bonus room andadded a small half bath. What we did was keep the garage doors up, but took them off the rails. We built insulated walls rightg behind the doors. We have no windows, but the room is awesome! I am so glad we did it.

Will it be visible from the street?

I personally would get a CO but many people do not.

1/ neighbors get jealous that they could not do a home improvement approved by the township

2/ you never know if you might need to sell the house.

You're thinking of a permit right? C of O is so you could occupy and you are already living in your home. When building my home from the ground up, I was not allowed to live in it until I had the C of O, that was when all my permits and inspections were in proper order. So proper permit, I would get it. It's not like it would effect you moving out etc, just some paperwork and a nominal fee for piece of mind. Easier now then later, and this will help ensure that you have everything to code. It would be annoying if something wasn't and you needed to get the permit in a few years for some reason and have to redo stuff. My moto throughout my whole house building experience was easier now that later. You never know what the future may hold and you would need one if you ever needed to refi or anything of that matter.

Yes but you can always get a C of O later, for something as simple as she is doing it wouldnt be an issue.
