C-section moms and body after baby

For those who had a C-section...did you find that the "fold" over the incision EVER goes away? I am right about at my pre-pregnancy weight and working out like crazy, but I still have a fat fold there. I am only about 11 weeks post partum, but I'm just wondering if the fold goes away after time or if it will always be there...??

When I had my first, it never went away really. I lost all of my pre-pregnancy weight and it was still there. Chat Icon I also did not have a flat belly to begin with so I am not sure if that means anything. I scared to see what I will look like in a few months after I lose the weight from this pregnancy.

Well, I still have a lot of weight to lose, and my fold is gone. I think it just depends on the individual. Also, I had dissolvable stitches only, no staples, so I wonder if that had anything to do with it.

Well, I'm 4 months pp and not at my pre-preg weight yet. I've lost 25lbs so far- but have 15 to go Chat Icon . However, the fold you are talking about is almost gone.

ETA: I also had dissolvable stitches.

Interesting...I had staples....I'll be really annoyed if that means the fold stays around Chat Icon

Yah, I don't know. I was thinking more that it was genetic. I've always had a flat stomach. But then one of the pp said she had the dissolvable stitches...

I still have the fold Chat Icon and its been 3 years since my c/s. But I also had another baby last year, so I still have some weight to lose. The good thing is, fold or no fold, my c/s is nearly invisible, you can hardly tell its there.

ETA: I did not have staples with my c/s.

Re: C-section moms and body after baby

I was hopeful that the fold would disappear one day, until a talk with my aunt.

She had 2 csections...2 years ago, she fought a battle with stage 4 cancer. Chemo, huge weight loss...she said even though she was a bag of bones, she still had the fold.Chat Icon

Re: C-section moms and body after baby

Mine's thankfully slowly disappearing. I've been using Bio-Oil on my scar and it's helped a lot.

Re: C-section moms and body after baby

Just curious - where exactly is this fold supposed to be?

I am losing my baby weight - finally - and have about 10 lbs to go before I'm at pre-preg weight - I have a little tummy pooch still, but the area where my pube area is (sorry, TMI) where the scar is is completely flat..... So, the pooch area wis right where my tummy is, but below that everything is just flat and normal, and you just see a scar but no fold...

are you guys talking about the tummy pooch, or do some people have a fold literally over the incision, like, where the underwear would cover... I keep hearing about this fold, and not sure what it is.....

Re: C-section moms and body after baby

Yes, I know what you mean. At 10.5 weeks, I am 2 Lbs less than I was pre-PG but still have that fold. It's really annoying since it is "interfering" on how my pre-PG clothes fit or not. The rest went almost back to normal but not the fold.

It is slowly going down every week. I asked my dr. if it would ever go back to normal. She told me it was possible it would not since there was so much stretching of the belly.

Also, they really "stretch" your abs during the c-section.

It took my sister a good 6 months to get her belly back.

Re: C-section moms and body after baby

Mine did go away. It took a long time (maybe 9 months), but it did eventually go away.
