C-section moms who BF?

Did you find it challenging to BF with your incision. I guess I mean as far as sitting and having the baby suck was it painful (the incision) ?

Re: C-section moms who BF?

My incision really didn't bother much at all after the first week- a little tender for another two weeks maybe and that was it.

My nipples hurt VERY bad for two months but that's different story! Chat Icon

I was bummed I couldn't wrap the boppy around me as planned (hurt to do so). Didn't even think of it until I tried to do it. Every other position was fine though.

Re: C-section moms who BF?

The actual incision was not the problem for me.

- Propping myself up was a problem. I felt I was ripping everything inside. Once I was sitting, I was OK. While that has nothing to do with BF, I had to do it more often since I was BF every 2 hours in the first few weeks.
- I found my recovery to be more brutal since I had to wake up every 2 hours to BF DS. The lack of sleep did slow down the recovery.
- I could not use the boppy pillow around my waist, just under my elbow.

Re: C-section moms who BF?

Yes, the incision was a b*tch for me. I had an infection so it wasn't the most comfortable. I also found positioning myself right to be difficult.

i used the football hold, so the babies wouldn't be leaning on the incision.

Same here. I did use the football hold just because I found it to me more comfortable - but no, my incision didn't bother me at all, not even BFing.

Not really. I was in some pain for the first day or so in general- so it made lifting her to breastfeed hard- but after the first day or two- it was fine.

Re: C-section moms who BF?

No. Sitting up was painful at first, but just the act of coming into the sitting position, not actually sitting.
