C section moms...question..

Its almost 2 weeks since my c section. I am still in pain when I walk or try to get up but not as bad as it was. The worst is in the morning trying to get out of bed. I am wondering if this is normal. There is a girl in my neighborhood who had a c section 2 days before me with twins and she is walking around fine as I am still stepping lightly. I wonder if my recovery is going normally? At 2 weeks after, how did you feel?

Re: C section moms...question..

With Emma I hurt for a few weeks afterwards. By the 4th week I was back to being myself. They cut a lot to get the baby out. With Jeremy I was myself like 4 days later. Such a difference. It's normal the pains you are having. Just don't overdo it.

It's normal. Everyone is different. If you are not feeling a lot better by 4 wks then I would call your doctor.

Re: C section moms...question..

I had a C section 3 weeks ago, and still have some pain. At 2 weeks I was definitely in more pain than I am now, but was also on stronger meds (now I'm just taking Advil a few times a day). I find it definitely gets worse when I overdo it - the rest of me feels fine, and so it's easy for me to think I can do more than I can.

Re: C section moms...question..

I felt good at 2 weeks except for getting in and out of bed and getting off the floor. But at 2 weeks I decided to try and take my daughter for a walk around the block. Bad move- wow that was too much for me. I wasn't ready for that.

Completely normal! Everybody's body heals differently. The pains are your body's way of telling you that you are doing too much!

Re: C section moms...question..

By two weeks I was fine but I know that my cousin wasn't even close to fine at two weeks. Go at your own pace and don't over excert. You are probably more sore in the mornings because you havent used your muscles all night.
If you get really worried, give your OB a call.

Re: C section moms...question..

At 2 weeks I was still aware of the fact that I had recently had my belly cut open. I wasn't in terrible pain like I was a week before, but I still occasionally needed pain killers. Hang in there, you should be back to normal in another couple of weeks.

Re: C section moms...question..

Noreen, EVeryone is different and every C is different. Ive tried to take it EXTRA easy with # 2 and 3, b/c w # 1, my scar opened a little bit.

If you feel pain just take it slower. Your body's telling you to take it easy Chat Icon If youre really worried, ask your Doc.

I also think we feel so great (at least in my case) in the very beginning, because the pain meds are so strong Chat Icon

Re: C section moms...question..

I was a very slow healer - I'm STILL sore at 4mos PP!

For the first 5-6 w3eeks were really painful for me.

Everyone heals at their own pace so try not to compare yourself to your neighbor. 2 wks is still VERY early. You had major surgery!

I know I was definitely still in discomfort @ 2 weeks PP, but you would never know it b/c I was up and moving around (I overdid it and ended paying for it by having to go for biweekly visits to the OB.)

I was pain free by 4 weeks PP.

Re: C section moms...question..

I think it is totally normal....I had a csection and didnt feel like myself until about 6 or 7 weeks post-op. For the first 2 weeks, I was on painkillers. I still have slight itching around my incision sometimes and get occasional pains in the area and it has been 6 mos! C sections are MAJOR surgery and everyone heals differently.

Re: C section moms...question..

There is no stock answer...like everyone said all of our bodies are different. Heck, I needed a 2nd surgery to remove scar tissue a year later. It is the way my body heals..or rather, does not heal well.

I did not feel like myself again for a very long time. You just need to do what your body is asking you to do.
