C-Section Spinal Moms
I met with my anastegiologist this morning during my pre op testing. He told me it was normal to feel touch on my skin but not pain with a spinal. With Emma I felt nothing but with Jeremy he said I probably had an incomplete spinal which made it possible for me to feel and move my legs. What was your experience with the spinal?? I am trying to calm my fears about feeling someone cut my stomach open, although my nerves are dead there anyway and I wonder if I will feel anything...

Re: C-Section Spinal Moms
I felt pressure, but I actually felt repeating pressure the entire time. It was wierd it was as if they were constantly tapping on the top of my stomach nuder my ribs. The Dr said sometimes that happens, I was feeling when they touched up top to see if I was numb over and voer becuase that is what they were doing when it went numb.
Also they put the catheter in after they gave me the spinal so my legs went numb while they were putting my legs down so it felt like my legs were up in the air abit since that is where they when when I went numb.
Not sure if any of that made anysense!

Re: C-Section Spinal Moms
Actually I voted for the second choice, but it really should be other, since I didn't feel where they cut.

Re: C-Section Spinal Moms
For me, I started to freak out when he was giving me the spinal. He had to keep doing it and go deeper and I began to sob uncontrollably. I am pretty sure I remember him saying that he was giving me something else to calm me down. But as soon as the spinal began to work I was in a daze and hardly remember anything at all. I didnt feel any pressure from them cutting or pulling Ryan out. I liked it that way and hope its like that again with the next one.

I agree... no pain but you knew something was happening on the other side of that curtain!

Re: C-Section Spinal Moms
I felt nothing at all. I didn't even realize they cut and started until my doc said, "ok, I see a boy butt and now you will feel some tugging and pulling!"

same here.... I went numb really quickly... it was such a strange feeling. I actually didnt feel any "pressure" but I felt my stomach jiggling kind of... hard to describe but certainly not an ounce of discomfort. you will be fine!
ETA: i definitely could NOT feel/move my legs... at one point when I was in recover the nurse moved my legs and it was sooo weird to not even feel it.

Re: C-Section Spinal Moms
First C-Section, I felt nothing but tugging, pulling, and pressure. Second C-section, I felt the incision and it was painful. I was given drugs to "calm me down", but they made me loopy....kind of took away from the joy of seeing DD for the first time.

I felt nothing at all, I wasn't even aware that the Dr started until she said you might feel some tugging as we take her out, but I still didn't feel it. Only negative for me was the spinal made me very nauseous and they had to give me some drugs to counteract it

same here. I told the dr. that I was going to throw up, he gave me an injection through the IV & in 10 seconds I felt fine.
My body, especially face, itched like crazy afterwards though! Anyone else experience this??

Other:
I could feel pain and move so they had to put me completely out. They had stuck me 9x's
I had a problem with getting an epidural the first time too! 12x's to get that one in. So I think it is just me

Re: C-Section Spinal Moms
Thank everyone SOOOOO MUCH!!!!! For 9 months I have been dreading laying on that table again with docs and scalpes above me and feeling things. The anast. could see how freaked out I was about it and he did his best to try and make me feel great about it. He did a good job talking to me about everything. At the end I did feel better but to hear the other end of the spectrum where people who actually went through it and their spinal was 100% SUCECSSFUL makes me feel so much more confident going in on Friday morning!!!!! The anasteg. (he was the head guy) did tell me that he was going to look on the board at who is on for Friday and assign me the one who is the best at spinals. Hopefully he is right and I get to find out what this child is who has been growing inside me while I am awake and coherent!!!! everyone!
