cabinet handles?

Help settle an argument....
We have an island that is attached to our wall at one end. The end that sticks out towards the kitchen has 2 fake door panels to look like the front of all the other cabinets---would you order handles for them even though it is just for decoration and not real cabinets.

Re: cabinet handles?

Are the panels on the side of the island and run most of the length and width? If so they do not get door handles put on them. My FIL designed my SIL and MIL's kitchen with the panels and they don't have handles. Are the two panels on the same side of the cabinet?

I have seen people, my SIL, put handles on the fake drawer area right under the sink. She has a wide sink though so if she is leaning over her body fits between the handles, otherwise it could be uncomfortable.
I did the opposite and left that area w/o handles.

The panels do run the length and width on the side of the island. And I feel that we should not put handles on them. I think they would just get in the way when people are walking by the island.

I do have a fake draw under my sink and I was going to put a handle on it. Are you saying I shouldnt? wont it look odd if all the other cabinets under it have handles? do you have a picture of what your s looks like without the handle? thank you

Re: cabinet handles?

I have a fake cabinet doors and drawer fronts on one side of my island and I did put handles on them.

I honestly thought it would look strange w/out them.

I did the same thing w/ the drawer fronts under my kitchen sink and directly under my stove.

My FIL's kitchen designs don't have handles on the panels. I can ask him for you but I doubt any of his customers have done it. If you look at most pictures of kitchens that have the side panels, I don't think I've seen any that do.

As far as the sink drawer, it's personal preference. I was over my MIL's house yesterday and forgot to look if she had them under her sink in her new kitchen (can you tell the family is keeping him busy?Chat Icon )

Looking at my pics... first one is the new kitchen in the house we sold... it was a corner sink so the handle definitely would have hit into the stomach area and been uncomfortable when at the sink.

Second one is mu new kitchen in the new house. I have an extra-wide special order sink so the base is longer as well. Looking at the pic, I could have gone with two handles but decided not to. I'm pretty sure my SIL has the exact same sink and she put handles there so it's all personal preference.

We didn't put a handle on the fake drawer under the sink either.

I have 2 drawers under my sink and they both have handles....I think it would have looked weird without them.

ETA: I guess it depends on the cabinets, because tah-wee-zah's looks fine without it.
