Cablevision signs on to plan to block online child porn
HEMPSTEAD - News 12 Long Island’s parent company and Internet service provider Cablevision has agreed to limit access to child pornography, New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo announced Tuesday. Cuomo says Long Island's largest Internet service provider has agreed to immediately block access to child porn Web sites and eliminate access to child porn newsgroups.
"They've finessed it so much and its’ so well hidden,” Edie Harris, a former corrections officer and mother of two from Hempstead, says of online child pornographers. “I always have to stay on top of them day by day… it’s very difficult.”
Besides eliminating newsgroups, the ISPs also have agreed to purge their servers of all child pornography Web sites identified by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. The center regularly reviews and updates its registry of the sites.
The Cablevision agreement with New York's attorney general takes effect immediately.
Parents for Megan's Law has put out an Internet safety guide so parents can learn how to protect their kids from child pornography. Their tips include keeping children’s computers in a visible place in the house and not in their bedroom. Parents should monitor their children’s computer use and report inappropriate e-mails or messages.
Similar agreements were announced previously with other companies.

I, personally, think it's great, these sites are illegal and as such I don't feel they should be held to the constitutional right of freedom of speech.
What are your thoughts?

I am sure some people will make it as a "loss of freedom" but I am glad they are doing it.
It's illegal and blocking those sites is a good idea.
It's not about freedom of speech or watch what you want in this case. It's about children being used as preys.

They lose their right to "freedom of speech" the moment they are breaking the law and causing injury to others, such as a child. So I totally agree with what they are doing. These sites are disgusting -- and I wish all pedophiles were stoned to death...they are disgusting vile people.
