CAC recommendations
Please recommend who you used for CAC installation. We have a one level ranch house and looking to put tin two zones. TIA.

Re: CAC recommendations
Was supposed to have Sears come today but they cancelled. Look on Lipa website because they have a list of contractors that if you use them you receive a rebate (a few of the companys were recommended by people on this board).

Re: CAC recommendations
We used: U.S. Air Conditioning & Heating Inc. 600 I North Bicycle Path Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776 Work: 631-473-0090 Fax: 631-476-4811
Here is the link from the week of the install
They are a LIPA approved CAC vendor for their rebate and there are/were federal rebates available when we had ours installed.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. We interviewed about 5-6 companies - 1 large corporation and the rest were small companies that the ladies recommended on here.
US Air came recommended from our neighbor who had used them one year previously and were going to complete the install to our specifications (not their's). ETA: Some companies felt we had no reason to need 2 zones in our home and tried to convince us otherwise and some stated there was no need to have an upgrade to our 100 amp electric.

Re: CAC recommendations
Oh, my sister used my father's very good friend who is a steamfitter in the union and does this -- but he really only does it for very close family and friends. He doesn't need the work but does it for cheap for people he knows. He was so excellent, what a shame! However, the one GREAT piece of advice he gave: going with a York brand. What a fantastic unit!

There is nothing wrong in recommending a one zone system if the unit can handle the load. You use less electric on a one zone system vs. a two zone. A one zone system also equals less profit for the company so if they are quick to recommend a one zone system I can respect that.
In regards to US Air Conditioning and Heating, I called them for a quote based on a recommendation from here.
The guy that came to my house, I felt was not very knowledgeable. Sort of like a middle man to his "boss" who I guess does all the heat and load calculations.
But anyways I had the guy over to give me a quote. He said he would hand this over to his boss to contact me. I haven't heard from them since. And that was almost two weeks ago.
Maybe they don't need my business. Or maybe my file got hidden somewhere. Maybe they will eventually call me.
With that said, I can't recommend this company. If they can't even spend the time to give me a price for a sale, where will they be when I actually need service.
I also can't recommend Phoenix Air. I left them a message (during business hours) and they didn't even bother calling me back.

Re: CAC recommendations
We used One Hour Heating and Air when our old CAC died. They were amazing and came out the next day for an estimate and then replaced everything the following day. They even removed a bush that was in the way for us! My DH wasn't home when they were installing everything, and they needed to put the unit in a different place then originally planned, I told them there was no way I would be able to take it out, so they asked for a shovel and did it for me! Very reliable company, I highly reccommend them! One Hour
