Cailen seems to want to eat all day!
Is that normal? I must give him a full bottle almost every hour!!!
Sometimes it takes him a while to get thru the bottle, but I feel he eats all day!!!
Also - my pediatrician said that its ok to switch between Enfamil and Similac, which I have been doing because we had both - I'm thinking of going back to Similac Advance b/c I felt he did better with that - think its better to just stick to one even if they are both essentially the same?

Maybe its a growth spurt. Try increasing his oz's alittle.
I always stuck to one formula, because when I switched she either threw up or got the runs.

ped says if he reacts ok then its fine - he never spits up or anything, but we feel he slept better when he was just on Similac...

I would also pick one formula and stick to it. Their little bellies are still developing and learning how to digest. As far as him eating all the time, I felt like DS was attached to my boob. They do tend to eat a lot at that young age. I would try upping his ounces and trying to spce the feedings by small increments. Luca is 6 months old and still eats every 3 hours. But he's on such a great schedule now that I see no reason to mess with it.

I agree if he's fine, than its ok - but like Nicole said its probably hard on his belly.
Definitely try giving him more to eat if he's eating every hour. How many oz's is he drinking? DD was at 3 oz pretty much after the first week. piggy wiggy

4 oz! And then he'll start another bottle, so sometimes 6 oz at a sitting!!!

If he's hungry and not spitting up, feed him
DD always ate MORE than the recommended amounts - she's been growing fast and is really tall.

Re: Cailen seems to want to eat all day!
Since you are formula feeding he should be able to go at least 2-4 hours between feedings.
Is your ped concerned that he is eating every hour?

agreed!
Nikolas never went by the books as far as feedings goes.. he ate a LOT at each feeding.. Once we realized that he wanted more ounces a bottle, he was able to stretch out the feedlings a little bit more.
I would think since Cailen wants to eat every hour, he needs more ounces in his bottles..
Could be a growth spurt too though.. they want to eat all the time when they have those!

He was doing this at the hospital - ped. said to let him eat as much as he wants - he was the only one who gained weight at the hospital - was born 6lbs8oz, dropped to 6lbs5oz, then when we went home 6lbs10oz, 2 days later for ped visit, 6 lbs13oz, and he definitely has grown a LOT since that visit!!!

Re: Cailen seems to want to eat all day!
DS is similar. And he has no real schedule. Sometimes it's an hour between eating, sometimes it's 4 hours. And he'll take different amounts at each feeding, up to and a little over 4oz. He also was born 6-10, left the hospital at 6-7, was 6-15 at the doc 3 days later and then 7-9 at his 2 week visit! Doc said that's way more weight gain than average, but to keep feeding him what he wants if he's not spitting up.

Same here- at 4 months she still eats all the time. But she is really tall for her age too.
