Cailen's 1st day at daycare!
He was so good!!!
I dropped him off in the morning - the 1st thing that happened was the 2 big kids in the class began to climb all over his car seat and grab at him - they were 14 mts old - they were from the other classroom, but were combined in the morning... It made me a little nervous, but the teachers removed them...
I put him in the classroom bouncy seat (it looked a bit dirty, but he was going to wind up in it anyway) - he liked it - his bouncy at home is more like a bed (well, it is his bed at nigh! ) so right away he was excited
He sat and looked and looked and looked at everything with a big smile. When I went to kiss him goodbye, I realized he had a poop, and it was pretty nice telling the teacher and not having to do it myself!
I felt very comfortable leaving him there - he really looked excited by everything around him
I called 2 times. Each time the teacher raved at how good he is - how he doesn't cry - and "talks" and smiles all day! She kept telling me how cute he is and how easygoing and mellow...
When I came and got him, he looked so happy... but when he saw me, his face broke out in the HUGEST smile, he kicked his little feet and began making his little talking sounds  His teacher made a picture with his photograph (the photo was so bad, but cute - it was this close up so all you see are his 15 chins!!!) and it said "Cailen's first day at Rainbow chimes" with the date on it!
Now - my day back at work:
It was awful. I wasn't there for an hour and all this negative crap was piled on me - long story, but it was very upsetting and overwhelming. I was so miserable all day. Not because I was away from Cailen so much, but because I realized I am not happy where I am anymore....
The best part of my day was picking Cailen up and him smiling at me...
Then we had to rush to the wake. By that time he was passed out.
Oh, he slept a total of 1 hr and 10 mins the entire day at daycare!!! 
He is fast asleep now!!!

awww I am so glad he had a good first day!!! it sounds like he is such a good baby!!!!

Aaah, I've been following your posts about anticipating Cailen's first day at day care. I'm glad it went well.
Sorry your return to work wasn't super wonderful. Sometimes it takes a few weeks away to help you realize where you want to go next or how soon you want to leave.
And, FYI, I have been taking the advice you posted about taking a good look at the children when I check into a day care center. If they are happy, itls a good sign. At one center I saw all of the rooms and the kids were all smiley. I must have hit it at the right time because there was no crying in the whole place while I was there! I'm still looking, though.

awww his 1st day went well. That's a good sign!
Sorry for the workload part. I can't imagine going back after maternity leave and everything is still pilled up and not done.

I am so glad he had a good 1st day/ I am sorry about your part though.
I hated my job so before I went back I decided to find another one. I knew I would not be happy being away from him all day and then have to go to an awful job.
Maybe you should start looking for a new one?

I am so glad that he had a good day at daycare! I know how you feel, I am not happy where I work either and going back after 4 months was really hard. I think about Jacob all day and look forward to seeing his smiling face when I pick him up
