Cake-Fondant or Buttercream
So the cake we really want for DDS birthday party needs to be made out of fondant. Did anyone have a fondant cake--did the kiddies eat it

I've made fondant cakes and I'm not personally a hige fan of the taste of the fondant.....but if there's a lot of butterceam underneath it, you should be ok....

Re: Cake-Fondant or Buttercream
I prefer the fondant - besides there is buttercream underneath -so if they don't like the fondant they can pick it off and eat the rest - I think the fondant makes for a better looking cake.

All the cakes I like have sugarpaste animals so buttercream cant hold them

its expensive too. I wanted it but it was $70 extra. I ended up with whipped cream and it was DEL-ISH!!!! (Tilda's)

Yes it looks better but I think most people don't like th taste of it, so its kind of a waste to get it with fondant.

Re: Cake-Fondant or Buttercream
REAL buttercream. Both our wedding cake and DD baptism cake were of it and it looked and tasted awesome!!
If not buttercream, than real whipped cream.

Fondant looks beautiful but you can always take it off carefully when you cut it to reveal the buttercream underneath!
