Cake for 1st birthday party.
Is this appropriate for a 1st birthday party...considering it will be mostly adults...I wont do the same color M and M's.....
Thinking of making a chocolate one and decorating with pink and white M&M's....might end up having to buy the chocolate cake and decorating it as my attempt to make one tonight was a disaster
TIA

Re: Cake for 1st birthday party.
I think it is totally appropriate. I love butterflies so I made a butterfly cake for Emily's Birthday Party...I can post a pic if you want.

Re: Cake for 1st birthday party.
I can post the recipe. It was the recipe for yellow cake from my betty crocker cookbook. However you can just use a mix --- I only used a recipe bc I needed to modify it so my mom could eat it since she can't have dairy.
To get the shape I just made circle cakes and cut the shapes out from that.

Re: Cake for 1st birthday party.
That is so cute. So is the other one. I am busy making cat cupcakes for Madeline's party. When is your daughter's party?
Also, check out www.wilton.com. I'm sure they have a pan for a Butterfly cake

Re: Cake for 1st birthday party.
I just checked out Wiltons. It is great. Do you think it is appropriate to bake cupcakes for Sara's 1 st birthday party? It is a small get together at my house. I wanted to make them Yellow cake with pink icing and just some sprinkles on top or something on top. I will buy the pink icing from Wilton . what do yo think?
Also, where can I get the cupcake display?

Shari, I think cupcakes for a birthday party is an awesome idea. Especially for such little ones, because you can give them each just a little cupcake instead of having to cut up an entire cake.
We did cupcakes for Emily's small, at home birthday party. She loved having her own cupcake.
As far as a stand look for something 3-tier, even if it isn't a cupcake stand. I'd check BBB, Linens n Things, places like that.
