Call it the luck of the Irish? We almost had a catastrophe yesterday

So DH, DD and myself are en route in the car to the parade. Julia starts motioning for her puffs and I start handing them to her one by one. All of a sudden, I turn her way and she has something GREEN in her mouth. I was in such shock I actually believed for a second that they turned green for St. Paddy's day. In the next second, I realized it was her green barrette. It was towards her teeth, but in my panic of trying to get it out, I started pushing it further down her throat, to the point that she almost swallowed it entirely. I finally got it out by the grace of God and I think a few guardian angels. It was almost seconds but it felt like an eternity. Going through my mind was the idea I might have to lose another child.

Please ladies do be careful with those barrettes. I rarely rarely put them in her hair as this was my fear all along. What is even more scary is that I have a daughter that is very good about not putting things in her mouth. She has very little interest. I truly believe this is something she did absentmindedly while putting puffs in her mouth at the same time.

We had such a wonderful day at the parade but this was haunting me all day.

So scary! Thank goodness she is ok!
Im constantly worried about DD becuase she puts ANYTHING, rocks, coins etc in her mouth!

That is so scary! DS puts everything in his mouth, and it is always a fear of mine.

I'm so sorry that happened but glad to hear she is ok. My DD loves to take out those clips so now I try to take them out before car rides or whenever I can't watch her every move. She is always putting stuff in her mouth.
