Re: calling to wake adult children.
My DH wakes me up when he leaves for work at 7 am so I can wake up the kids and get my older son ready for school. It works for us.
If it works for BIL and MIL, so be it. If she's not complaining about it, let it be.
(ETA- I lived at home until 24 and my mother woke me up for school/ college/ work- every day! If not, I would have TOTALLY slept through my alarm!)

Re: calling to wake adult children.
I do not find anything wrong with it either...I am an extremely heavy sleeper and alarm clocks almost never wake me..My husband wakes me all the time if I do not get up with my cell phone alarm, and I do have him call me if he isnt home...I just would hate to oversleep for work or something...

Re: calling to wake adult children.
I think it comes down to her need to say, "well, I HAVE to wake him up otherwise...." Idk if he asks her or she just assumed that he needed her to wake him and thats how it started.
and yes she is very enabling when it comes to her kids.

To each his own.
I will say that not a chance I'm going to be waking my adult children for their job.

Re: calling to wake adult children.
I have an alarm clock on my night table and another one across the bedroom. I set both of them and sometimes, when I have something important to do, I also have either my mom or DH call me (if DH is out of the house already). It's a matter of knowing your own sleep habits. I have difficulty falling asleep but once asleep, I could stay asleep through a lot. It actually helps me sleep, knowing that I will not miss something.
