Re: Camera & camcorder help!
Over the summer we bought a camcorder. DH did some research. We ended up buying a Sony that records to a hard drive on the camcorder. The other option was onto a disc, but we decided we liked the hard drive one better. We download the video to the computer and put it on a dvd, but we still have to buy the dvd burner to do it correctly. We now regret the decision to not buy an HD camcorder. We bought and HD-TV and kinda wish we had the HD camcorder too. But they were so pricey when we were looking.

We are also in the market. I think the Parenting board may be able to provide more advice/assistance.

Re: Camera & camcorder help!
we just got married and went on a HM, so we just bought one...
the best site in the universe to see which camera / camcorder is best for you is CNET.com. They provide pro reviews of each model, the retail price, and have lots of techno geeks writing in amateur reviews. The amateur reviews is where you really learn the good / bad ugly of the product...
We just bought a sony camcorder with a built-in harddrive..... It's much more convenient than the older DVD styles. For zoom, try to find the highest optical zoom possible. (digital zoom gets a bit fuzzy when you zoom all the way in, while optical zoom is always crisp).
then, read all the compliments / complaints about the layout, size, battery life... you'll definitely find the best camera within your budget
hope this helps....

I think that would be a good place to look too.

Re: Camera & camcorder help!
I just posted about camcorders last week. I got barely any responses.
For a camera, I have a Canaon 6 mp point and shoot camera. I want to get a digital slr for when the baby is born.
