Re: Camp Kenwal in Melville
Everyone I know that goes there loves, love, loves it.
Very expensive but if you were looking for a camp that looks like they asked kids "What would you want to do this summer?" & they included everything on that list, that's the camp.

Re: Camp Kenwal in Melville
Yes, Jacob and Chloe both go there. Jacob it will be his fifth and Chloe's second.
We love it! Nothing bad to say! The fact is I love that yet it is big, the groups are on the small side no more than 15.. It is a luxury camp but rustic. The camp itself has all the bells and whistles of other camps, maybe not the amusement park rides that Crestwood has but it does have zip line, bungee, go arts, waterside alley, a lake for boating, great swim program, etc... The owners are so nice and they now every campers name... I will say that most of the kids are from Plainview, Syosset, Oldbethpage area. But there are at least three mini buses that got t dixhills and Commack...
We looked at all the others in area, Crestwood, west hills and driftwood. They are all awesome camps but for us we felt kenwal was a good fit for our children.
Is it expensive? It is... But it is a little cheaper than Crestwood, west hills, park shore and driftwood...
To me, it is worth every penny for them to have a n enjoyable summer and to have I dependence to see what they really love to do..

Re: Camp Kenwal in Melville
My dd has been there 7 years now and refuses to leave. The owner is on site all the time, one of the director has been with him since he was a counselor! There are varied activities and unlike the other camps they get at least one choice activity a day from 1st grade on....in other words they are given three or four activities to choose from....they decide. The swim program is great too. For the older kids they do some day trips which is nice too. Can't say enough good things!

Re: Camp Kenwal in Melville
One thing I heard that I really liked was that they had adults as counselors.
From my horrible experience with camps when you have kids as counselors, they really don't pay as close attention to the kids & their safety.

Re: Camp Kenwal in Melville
I know several of my friends with children who send them there and LOVE it. Very decent and safe place it seems.
