Can a new diaper brand cause a rash?
DS has his first diaper rash and I was wondering if it could be caused from the Huggies Overnights we just started using. Maybe it's just a coincidence though.
has anyone experienced this? is this a stupid question?

Yes, we found out my son was allergic to huggies when I tried them. He got a terrible diaper rash that didn't go away until the pediatrician prescribed something.

Re: Can a new diaper brand cause a rash?
What's weird with my kiddies, reg huggies give them rashes and the overnights don't. But i lube them up with vaseline on their coolies before bed so maybe that protects them.
I still hate huggies though, but I'm excited cause i got a flyer that pampers are coming out with an overnight diaper in june I can't wait!!
Maybe try diaper doubles with his regular diaper til the rash goes away? I picked mine up at stop and stop :)
HOpe his rash heals quick

The same thing happened to me but I remember Cathy posting they were allergic so once I switched diapers no problems.

Oh, OK, so it's not uncommon..... I'll have to experiment to see if that's the problem.....
What are diaper doublers?

That happened to DD the one time I tried Luvs. Never again and never another rash.

Re: Can a new diaper brand cause a rash?
My DS seems to get more of an irritation when we use Huggies. It may be from the fit--from rubbing on his leg. I am just not sure. DH insists that we do not use Huggies for a while.

diaper doublers are an insert that goes in the regular diaper (it looks like an old-fashioned maxi pad.) I found mine in BRU.

Re: Can a new diaper brand cause a rash?
DD is allergic to Pampers Luvs anything that is not hypoallergenic and has scent. It's a shame cuz I love love love LUVs. They are cheap and don't leak. She did great on the CVS Explorers which are hypoallergenic and when I went back to buy some I found out they were discontinued She does OK with Huggies since they have no scent but the ped told us to buy some more hypoallergenic so we just ordered some 7th generation diapers.
