Can a professional "spot correct" scratches on wood floor?
We just finished our sunroom and despite being extra cautious with this one particular piece of furniture that scratched our floors in the past-- it left a big scratch when we moved it back in.
I assume if I get my floor guy back he can fix? Can't deal with moving all furniture out again, and having a baby in 3 weeks-- so just want house in order finally after the construction job.

why not call and ask him?
my guess is he can make it significantly better, not perfect.

I have no clue what they used-- I know we did Minwax Provence as the color, and we did a satin finish. Our guy told us that the satin was as durable as any other type of finish, and our floors scratch so easily-- I beg to differ.
I am going to try to rub the scratches out with some Bri-Wax and see what happens, but some areas are real bad.
I know I owe you an FM back-- things have gotten so crazy!

ok, the clear stuff they put over it is the poly. they offered me water based or oil based and one has bad fumes, i was curious if you were given a choice.

We also used Provincial and a satin finish poly, and I find the floors scratch extremely easily. I have had to get over it because we got so many just from moving in. The slightly glossier finish I had at my last house held up so much better.

We have Brazilian cherry Bamboo in the entire house. Hate it. I could scratch it with my finger nail.
Best thing by far are the wood markers. They come in a variety of colors and work like magic. You can by them at any hardware store.

i have used half oil half vinegar on my scratches and it definitely makes them much less visible.... it may smell like a salad After letting it sit, wipe it up so you do slip. Hope that helps Cheap quick and easy

I assume you use white vinegar?
I wonder how this works compared to Bri-Wax, or if it's the same concept. I guess I can try both on two different scratches and see what works better.
Thanks for the tip!

Re: Can a professional "spot correct" scratches on wood floor?
I use canola oil on all the scratches immediately after they happen (I have a satin finish also) and it hides them really well. I sometimes use a paintbrush to apply it (an artist's brush really).

A professional floor finisher can absolutely do this for you.

Not sure how bad it is, but we have this putty waxy stuff that you rub into knicks and it fills in. Comes in various shades, so it'll be a close match.
