Can an iPod battery go bad?
My iPod isn't working and doesn't do anything when I plug it in to my computer. Is it possible that the battery is bad? The iPod shows a picture of a battery with a "!" next to it.

yes! my DH was telling me about it. apparently you should let it charge fully instead of partially when you charge it, and shouldn't expose it to extreme heat or cold in order to prolong the life of the battery.

it could be that or the ubs cable.
the same thing happened to me, but it was the cable that went wrong.
The apple website has great troubleshooters.

yep- my battery went bad. DH bought another battery online and switched it out- it came with the tool to do it- so it was very easy. It was much cheaper than taking it to the apple store!

yes, how old is it?
Mine started going bad after about 2 years (i had a mini) and just got a nano. The new batteries are so much be tter!

It's about 2 years old. I'm going to look into getting a new battery and usb cable. Thanks!

Yes, I had a warantee, so I just brought it back to an Apple store and they gave me a brand nee one.

How old is the I-Pod?
Never mind, saw above post.
Yeah, DH only charges the battery when it's fully dead. But Apple can replace the battery for around $99

I think that Apple was hit with a class action lawsuit because of shoddy batteries in their Ipods.
I'm not sure if this is true for newer ipod versions, it was a year or so I remember hearing about this.
A quick search came up with this article.
