Can any 5th grade teachers...

Recommend any good helpful materials that go along with the 5th grade curriculum? Test prep materials..good author studies for 5th grade..etc.

I have spent so much $$ and time for second grade materials..now that my grade has changed, I don't even know where to begin...

HELP!

TIA

Re: Can any 5th grade teachers...

Go to Lakeshore or another teacher store and pick up some Spectrum books to help with test prep....they have loads of test prep stuff.

I student taught in 5th and have some material but mostly for the middle of the year in SS, math and science.

The kids also read this author...ohh name escapes me...book was about two boys who were friends and one dies....anyone know what book I am talking about?

Re: Can any 5th grade teachers...

I would definitely suggest Gordon Gorman, Jerry Spinelli, Sharon Creech and Gary Paulsen as authors.

There are some really great picture books out there to that go along with the SS.

(Moe do you mean Taste of Blackberries? That's not really fifth grade level so it's prob not the book you mean...)

The coach books are great for ELA and math test prep.
