Can any one offer help or advice??
I work M-F 9:30 am to 6 pm (sometimes a little later) I live in Ozone Park, Queens and work in Plainview, Long Island and therefore am up at 7:30 am. My DH works Tu-Sa 5:30 pm - 2 am (sometimes later) and I am most always asleep when he gets home. But since becoming PG I am finding it hard to stay asleep or fall back asleep after DH gets home. We don't see each other much during the week, and his job doesn't allow us much time to talk on the phone, so sometimes I get up to talk and catch up. Then he falls right to sleep and I lay there. Wide awake. Sometimes I have a little temper tantrum and kick, like a 5 year old. Last night I got up and slept on the couch for a couple hours then was back in bed at 6:30, but couldn't fall back asleep b/c I had to pee so bad! UGH!! I am about at my wits end. And I end up some days being useless at work b/c I am so darn tired I can't even focus.
I have not talked to anyone about this recently, b/c when I have in the past I get the same responses, ranging from "Get used to no sleep, you won't sleep when the baby comes" to "Well tell DH to change his hours". The latter is not an option. And most times he tries so hard to be quiet when he gets home. And I know my sleep will be different when the baby comes, but I want to get and enjoy as much as I can now. I feel like sleep is a hot commodity and I can't get it most of the time!!
Any helpful hints?? TIA!!!!!

Re: Can any one offer help or advice??
I am finding this at nite too. I am up at 2 am with nothing to do but of course...go to the bathroom. I also watch tv when it is bad. Maybe try having some hot tea and relaxing on the couch. fall asleep out there. I know that theres no real answer but try to get as much sleep as u can. Oh another option that I do is fall asleep at like 8 so that when he comes home late, you would have already gotten in a few hrs.

The only advice I can give is to not try to keep a schedule. Sleep whenever and wherever you can. If you're sleepy when you get home from work, take the opportunity to catch a nap. If you wake in the middle of the night, get a snack and something warm to drink and then watch some TV on the couch. I find that the change in environment helps me. I know how frustrating it can be.

I am a night waker here are some things I've tried-if you do wake up to talk to DH-keep it dark and voices low-keep it a sleeping environment. In Borders they sell trelaxation tapes-my MIL swears by this Put your head phones on.

Re: Can any one offer help or advice??
I feel your pain. I am up every night at 2am and cannot fall back asleep for hours. Sometimes at around 4am I start to fall asleep again and that is when the alarm goes off for DH to get up. I am sorry I do not have a solution...but if you find one please share!

I agree- Now that I am almost 30 weeks, I really don't get any sleep on a consistent basis. With DH schedule, its got to be really tough. I definately sleep when I can- yesterday- I napped from 5-7, ate dinner, fell asleep again at 8:30 until 12- was up until 2 and then slept on and off until I got up at 6. It is definately hard with work and I agree I am sick of hearing, just wait it will be worse with the baby. Umm... I won't be getting up at 6 am, going to work everyday then!

Thank you to you and others. I am thinking this is the route I will try and see how it works. DH did tell me to take a nap when I get home, but silly me was thinking if I get home at 7 take a nap til 8, then eat dinner, it'll be time for bed soon after. I need to think outside of the box. Thank you ladies!!!
