Can anyone help me - Diaper Rash Severe
Hi all.
Jack has a pretty nasty diaper rash that he has had for well over a week. I tried Balmex and Triple Paste and neither has done much. This diaper rash is very different then the normal one he usually gets....he does not seemed bothered by it and it consists of a lot of bumps that are raised up.
I call the doctors office and they said it sounds like it's fungal and to try Lanocane, but that is doing nothing. I don't know what else to do. Anyone have any ideas??
Thanks so much

Re: Can anyone help me - Diaper Rash Severe
My son Jack is the king of diaper rashes - he gets them CONSTANTLY.
What I usually do is change him pretty often (obviously). Do not use wipes - use a wet washcloth with warm water.
After you're done wiping dry him off and dust a little powder on him. Pat that onto his tush getting rid of the excess and then apply the triple paste or Bordeaux's paste and then powder again but don't wipe any off.
Always works like a charm for my Jack - he usually clears up in a day or so.

If nothing is sticking to the rash (balmex, desitin, butt paste etc...) try A&D. My ds had the same type of rash but nothing ould stick to it because he was so raw. The only thing that worked was a TON of A&d and it cleared in 2 days. GL

After you change him, let him be bottomless for a little while. The air will help.

I was going to suggest that. Also, give him warm baths in the Aveeno soap. That works well.

It sounds like it could be a yeast type rash too.. My dd had that and i used Nystatin.. I would take her to the ped to see.

When this happens to DS the only thing that works is air, frequent changing and Lotrimin twice a day ( I do it in the morning and before bed). For all other diaper changes during the day I use triple paste.

Re: Can anyone help me - Diaper Rash Severe
This happened to DD when she was about 8 months old. It was fungal and the only thing that made it go away was a prescription of an antifungal cream for her little hiney. If it is not going away you may need a script. BTW: hers was bleeding too.

my son used to get yeast infections in the diaper and always needed a prescription to get rid of them.

Put him in the pack 'n play with waterproof sheets or something on the bottom for about an hour to let him air out. Use only wet paper towels, no wipes and get your ped to prescribe Nystatin. Hope he feels better!

Re: Can anyone help me - Diaper Rash Severe
Thanks all for the replys. It's not like his normal bad diaper rash, this one has bumps and does not really seem to bother him at all...maybe it is yeast? I'll call the ped tomorrow. I have an appt for him on Friday, so hopefully they will just prescribe it over the phone.
Usually Triple Paste works like a charm for me, but that does not seem to be doing much.
