No recommendation, but I'd love to hear some ideas. We'd love a new family-friendly vacation spot within driving distance.....especially an all-inclusive!

Re: Can anyone reccomend a vacation spot??

we were looking into Pinegrove Ranch but it is a little $$$$ for us we are a family of 5 now
it ranges between $99pp per night to $149pp per night
so even the cheapest it would be is $400
(children up to 6yrs is $69 and under 2yrs $25)
so $400 x 5 days or 7 days plus tax is almost $3,000Chat Icon

Re: Can anyone reccomend a vacation spot??

My family and I went to Pinegrove when I was little - it was fun.
I'm not sure what time of year you are looking to go away, but we also used to go every summer (for probably 10-12 yrs) to Glen Brook Farm in Roundtop, NY (about a 3 hour drive). I have no idea what prices are, but I thought it was always reasonable.
It was family owned. We went the same wk every summer and the same families were there - I don't even think the owner advertises b/c he gets so much business from word of mouth.
It was set family style meals (they actually rung a huge bell).
There was a big pool, a lake, a lot of group activites (sports, relays for the kids, bingo at night, etc). There was a small family-style bar also in which there was entertainment at night for all.
Nearby there was go-carting and horsebacking ride (not part of the resort). It's also close to the Catskill Game Farm.
Again, I haven't been there in MANY years (but some of the kids I went with now bring their own kids!). I thought I'd share as it sounds like something you might be interested in.

I couldn't find a website, but I found a link to someone else's family pics from their summers there Chat Icon You can see it's pretty rustic and basic - def. not a luxury trip, but a fun family vacation.

what is wildwood nj like? we are thinking of going to mystic ct this weekend. not that its all inclusive but its close and the prices are resonable. It might be fun for your kids being that there is an aquarium.

Re: Can anyone reccomend a vacation spot??

For the first time I went to Woodloch Pines in Penn this fall. This is usually not our type of vacation. But, we had a great time. There is something to do every minute for kids of all ages. It is like a cruise on land. That said my only real criticism was the food, it was so so at best.

We rented a huge house that they own, on their property, it was 5 bedrooms, completely redone and beautiful. We went with two other families and were all very comfortable. Next time I would try to negoiate a price that didn't inlcude food.

It was in my opinion a little pricy, but just about everything was included.

Take away Glen Brook Farms and replace it with Glen Falls House (almost identical - minus the lake)... we are very close to each other!!! We actually play softball games against Glen Brook Farms.

My family has been going for 20+ years! We go 1 week in the summer and usually 2 separate weekends. We love it! We still go with the same group of people! It's good if you like RELAXING - nothing 5 start about Glen Falls House OR Glen Brook Farms ...

Unfortunately Catskill Game Farm closed down Chat Icon
