Can anyone recommend a good trike/bike for 4 y/o girl?

With a winter birthday, we never plan ahead- and I would like to get DD a bike of some sort for her bday, so she has when spring comes.

Any suggestions?

Buy her a 12" bicycle with training wheels...they make them a little bit bigger, but her legs may not be long enough to reach the peddles. You can get them at Target, TRU or Walmart for cheap. My DD is a small 5 1/2 year old and still riding hers.

My DD is 4 as you know and we just got her a Disney Huffy 14 inch princess bike with training wheels, at TRU. She does a great job considering she is not that athletic!

How tall is she, btw? DD is 39.5 inches and a 14 inch is perfect, but we had her test them out first to see which size was best.

DD had the 12 inch with training wheels at 3.5. She is 5.5 and grandparents just got her a 16 inch (with training wheels that we will be taking off in the spring, hopefully).

thank you guys so much! So, maybe best bet is to go to a TRU and have her try them out. I remember doing that as a kid, but does the staff really hep you pick out? I feel like cust service not the same..

DD was 39.5 inches at her 3 yr check up, and she will be 4 beg of Feb, so I assume she is well over 40 at this point, and she won't really be using til Spring when she will even be taller. She grows like a weed!

Does the 14" have room for her to grow into at that height? Maybe the 16" would be too big.

Get the 16". My daughter is 3.5 yrs old and petite and we had gotten her a 12" in the spring. It is really hard for her to pedal because the frame is so compact. We had her try both 14" and 16" at TRU recently and will definitely not waste $$ on a 14" only to need a 16" the following year.
Definitely test drive at TRU. If you go to an actual bike shop, I'm pretty sure they would recommend the 16" as well.

thanks for the tips--

are the ones from bike shops more expensive, or is it the same merchandise?

No room to grow into really. It's perfect for my DD but it sounds like your DD will be much taller by now so the 16 is the bike for you I am sure.

Ds is 4 and has the 16 inch huffy. He is pretty tall and the seat is adjustable . 12-14 inch seemed too small for him
