Can anyone recommend a hotel in Boston or Cambridge?

Thanks! We used to live in Boston, but I've never had to stay in a hotel there!

Re: Can anyone recommend a hotel in Boston or Cambridge?

HI ...I live in Southie...like you, I never stay in hotels...but when my parents come to visit, they like to stay at the longwharf marriot, or the copley westin,. due to location. There are a lot of new hotels here, especially in the Seaport district, there is a new westin, and the seaport hotel, but until the seaport district gets more built up, I dont think their location is that great to copley, newbury, etc.

Where did you live in Boston?

Re: Can anyone recommend a hotel in Boston or Cambridge?

We lived in Roxbury, then outside Boston in Randolph.

That was like 5 years ago, though, and Boston has changed a lot since then! I think we're going to go with the Westin in Copley. I had originally wanted to stay in Cambridge, but JT really wants to stay in Boston, so I think the Westin it is! Thanks everyoneChat Icon

Re: Can anyone recommend a hotel in Boston or Cambridge?

There is a fairly new hotel in Arlington, right at Alewife and Mass Ave. near the Cambridge border. It looked nice, but it's not a real high end luxury place. It's close to the red line and an easy drive near Route 2, and I-95 and I-93. Sorry I don't know the name, but it might be worth a check if you decide against one of the big-name hotels in Cambridge.

How funny! I loved Randolph for some reason. Some sketchy areas, but I loved it. Totally miss it up there!

That whole area definitely has charm to it.

When we first started dating, Dave took me to Not Your Average Joes in Randolph one night - and I don't think he could get over I finished my whole dessert - which was this monstrous concoction called The Peanut Butter Thing. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Can anyone recommend a hotel in Boston or Cambridge?

Dh and I stayed in the sheraton that is attached to the mall or shopping plaza. It was very nice and the room we had was HUGE! Not all rooms were as large as ours but our first room's bathroom door was broken and if you went in and closed the door you could not get out from the inside. You needed someone to let you out from the outside. It was very bizarre and we were lucky we were not traveling alone!

We stayed at the Sheraton Prudential Center last year and it was ideally situated. There is a direct walkway to the shops and food court. We had a great meal at the Legal Seafoods there.

I would like to go back in a couple of months and hope to stay at the Marriott Long Wharf, which is right on the water across from the Aquarium and Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market.

I was just in Boston on business, but go there frequently anyway for pleasure. I just stayed at the Fairmont Coply Place, and it's a gorgeous hotel!

The Hoel Marlowe in Cambridge -- it's a boutique hotel, part of the Kimpton chain -- pet-friendly, and very luxurious..They have free wine tasting for guests every night.

I posted about it before on here...I will bump.

Re: Can anyone recommend a hotel in Boston or Cambridge?

the newest hotel in boston is the intercontinantal bost - actually it hasn't even had its grand opening yet - so you may be able to find some good rates

as forsome other great hotels - 15 beacon is great hotel on the stop of beacon hill - right by the state house - can get pretty good rates through expedia or hotels not come and if you tell them that it is for a special occasion they will bump you up for free if they have the room

other nice hotels - are nine zero
langham - which usally has great trates on weekends because it is on post office square (aka financial district)

millenium is right on fenuil hall and very nice also

down by the pru are the westin and the sheraton - nice in the winter when you are cold

is there a neighborhood you want to spend more time in - i know alot of the different hotels because even though i have lived in down town boston i have stayed at a decent amount of them -
i also live in one now
