Re: Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in Mrytle beach
I think its going to come down to what exactly you are looking for.
DH and I vary on opinions.
I like a crowded beach. I like kiddie pools. I like to walk to the boardwalk and rides.
DH likes quiet beaches with tons of room to fly his kites. He hates the night congestion of the boardwalk. He feels like kiddie pools are piss factories and would rather one big pool.
if you are like DH...stay in N. Myrtle Beach.
I will look up where we have stayed.

Re: Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in Mrytle beach
also, is anyone traveling with you? like a grandparent/sitter?
when we go next, we are bringing my parents...so we are going to stay close to broadway at the beach(where the clubs are)...they offer shuttles back to hotels.
here is leo's fave...though not on the beach
nice hotel, near boardwalk and water park...make sure you stay in renovated part
there are a few more I can find...but are a few blocks away from beach. let me know if you want those.
I think its a great place to vacation with toddlers. So much to do. DH isn't into it...he wants to head out to outerbanks...I think the sahm in me wants to be around people though. liked this except elevators took forever...but nice music, pool, bar scene

Re: Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in Mrytle beach
Janice, it seems we have the same DH's .
He really wants to rent a condo but all the pictures look so boring. His idea of a family vacation is being just the 4 of us and having fun at the beach and have it be really relaxed. I feel if you have toddlers, you need a place that are going to have other children so they can have fun. I also agree that it most be the SAHM thing and socializing. I am going to check out those hotels and show him. If he has questions (which I am sure he will) I will FM you.
Are you in SC?

So I just saw and my SIL's book the Sea Crest and got a great deal on it. How did you like it? I posted on travel and someone said they didn't feel it was safe to drive around. The pictures online, is that the renovated part or the older?

Re: Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in Mrytle beach
I am in NC, but we are 3.5 hours away.
Sea Crest was okay...our room wasn't renovated(july 06) so it was very old and beachy. We weren't in the towers though, we were in the shorter ones off to the side.
As far as safety, I would not walk at night alone from the boardwalk...I don't know too much about that area...but super close to rides and all that...so I guess its young people, drinking...

Re: Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in Mrytle beach
I liked it. My family came down with kids of all ages and rented out about 9 rooms. Elevators were the biggest issue. not enough for all the people.
We took the stairs, but it was before Josh. I could not imagine doing 6 flights with beach junk and baby.
pool scene was really nice. music, food, bar. beach was great too.
(if you are in an SUV with a luggage bin on top, you won't fit in parking garage...that was my family's issue. they have a few spots not in garage)
close to boardwalk.
