I've used D&L (on Queens Blvd between the 71st stop and Yellowstone) and Spectrym (on Austin st). Both were decent for cuts and color. I've also heard good things about the M Salon but I haven't tried it yet (I color my hair at home now, and only get a few cuts a year).

It's not Forest Hills, but Maspeth which isn't far, but it's called Celtic Hair Design. The place is excellent, the ladies are all sweethearts, and the prices are really good!
