Can anyone recommend a toy that lights up and plays music for a LONG TIME?
My DD loves toys that play music and light up, but they last only a few minutes.

does she like a mobile? DS LOVED this until he was able to stand then i took it out.
it comes with a remote!

the FP aquarium and the turtles/lady bugs that project onto the ceiling both play for up to 20 minutes. there's also a leap frog my pal scout that plays music for quite some time, but no lights. dd got it at a xmas party thrown by my husband's job and she loves it, but it might be more appropriate for a few months from now. dd also loved her FP aquarium, but we had to remove it from her crib because once she learned to turn it on herself, it was too distracting when sleep time came.

Homedics makes a projector that they sell at Target for $20 that plugs in (YES, no BATTERIES). It comes with 3 different scenes and I think 6 different sounds. It will play UNLIMITED if you wish, or set a timer. I put it on in the morning if DS is up too early and it keeps him occupied for quite some time. I heard to hold on o the receipt though cause the motor dies off quickly. I've had mine since Christmas... so far so good.

was going to recommend this one. just bought my second one. My older DD still uses it to sleep. She needs music all night. The projector on our first one broke after about a year, and my DH threw it out at christmas because we got the girls little speakers for ipods and downloaded sleeping sounds to play. well, DD wouldn't accept it and kept asking for her other music so i had to go out and buy a new one.

I got this at BBB and love it. It does break after a few months - we use it all night long, but they exchange it no problem.

We have 2 baby einstein musical turtles. It is in the shape of a turtle and lights up and has fish that swim around and plays music. When they get a bit older there are buttons that you can push where they can make bubbles or change the music or light colors. It was a big hit with both girls.

we have this too and DD loves it!
we also have the fisher price seahorse glow worm type thing. it plays music for like 5-10 mins at a time. and the belly lights up.

we got a baby einstein play mat (for tummytime) and it came with a triangular shaped toy that plays music and lights up. While I never used it for tummy time, I put it in DS' crib and he loves it...turns it on himself at bedtime and it playes forever (but is good on batteries)
