Can anyone shed some light on this . . .

Here's my situation.

My cycle is so regular you can set a clock to it. I'm a few days late.

1. I used a cheapy HPT the day I was supposed to get AF and it was neg.

2. I've had no breast tenderness or cramping. Nothing that would signal AF was on her way.

3. I've had serious heartburn and gas - sorry, but it's true

I'm pretty sure of I know the day it would have happened. It was about 2 days after AF finished. I am on a close to exact 28 day cycle.

Has anyone had a HPT come up negative, then a few days later show positive?

Has anyone gotten PG that close to having AF?

Yes, you can have false negatives with HPTs, especially early on. Call your doctor and ask about taking a blood test.

YES! I took the test 2 days prior and was negative. I then tested positive! I do not know how regular my periods are, because I was just 2 months off the pill and I don't get a lot of period symptoms, but I was about a week late when I got the positive.

ETA: We either got pregnant a few days before my last period started (which was turned out to be very light that month) or about a week before I tested positive.

definitely you can have false negatives.

I would wait until you are officially and than test again. If still neg, than most likely you are not.
