Can anyone tell me what do early contractions feel like?
I figure who better to ask than those who have BTDT.
I really would like to know, since I am technically at risk for PTL due to a fibroid, what do early contractions actually feel like? What would I be looking out for? Can anyone explain what they felt like? I have heard pain, no pain, feels like gas, etc, so I am very confused!

To me they felt like a bladder infection ! Actually with my last DD I thought I had a bladder infection and I couldnt go to the docs office b/c they werent there that day so I went to the hospital to find out I was 9 1/2 cent I had her 45 minutes later The doc said they took care of my bladder infection for me

I've been having them for the past 2 days...
It's like a tightening in your lower abdomen that starts off mild and then get stronger. It last for about 30-45 seconds and then goes away.

Ok very personal question....if you have ever had an "O" while pg, does it feel like that (the uterus contracting) or no?

I guess what I have a hard time with is gas cramps. I think I have gas cramps right now...but I always wonder what if it's a contraction and I can't tell?

If ithey did... everyone would enjoy labor a lot more. Mine sure as heck didn't feel like an "O"
it was distinctly like period cramps - Mine continued for 24 hours.

Your stomach will feel harder when it is contracting than when it does for O (in my experience anyway). If you start feeling crampy, begin to note the time and duration. If you see a pattern at all call your Dr.

I will try to do this. Right now I just think I have gas cramps, but I always am so confused about what a contraction would feel like.

I had a lot of braxton hicks cramps in the last month and a half to two months. My actual contractions started out like that but felt different. They were more intense. I had period like cramps that would come in waves with tightening similiar to the braxton hicks.

Same with me. I thought I was just getting cramps from not drinking too much water that day... or from gas  Then they got progressively worse and 4 hours later out came

yup had them like that for 24hrs until my mucuous plug and water broke and then i was off to the hospital but i didnt feel real pain until i got their and then it got interesting

Right...that's what I mean. Like when I have an "O", I can feel the uterus contract up as high as under my boobs. It's nothing like period cramps but then again, I haven't had period cramps since being pg so now that my uterus is higher, I don't know what period cramps would even feel like.
All I know is I just get worried that I won't be able to tell gas from contractions. Someone I know told me she thought she had gas but turns out it was contractions...

For me, I had an awful back-ache. I did not feel my uterus contracting, just had a backache that would not quit.
