Can anyone who knows about insurance explain why I got this bill??
I just got a bill from my ob/gyn for $4k for a visit to him when I was 8 months pregnant!?! It says antepartum care only, 7+ visits. Does anyone know what that means?
To make matters worse, I'm not even covered under the same insurance anymore. My company changed our insurance as of January 1. I had DD on January 16 and I made sure I threw away my old insurance card so that I wouldn't get confused when I went to the hospital so I'll have to jump through hoops to get in touch with the old insurance company.

You are still employed at the same company, right? Just on maternity leave?
Call your Benefits department and see if they can sort it all out for you before you try.

Doctors get paid after you give birth for the visits prior to delivering and the delivery itself. It soulds like the doctor submitted the claim to the old insurance instead of the new. I would call them to confirm they have your current insurance on file.

Basically They are charging you for a group of visits at a time. Call them, I bet they made a mistake, OR they submitted to the wrong insurance company and got rejected and ar enow sending it to you.
Fastest way to resolve...call them and ask them why you got it and did they send to the right insurance.
If you have any more problems after that or once you get the "why"...FM me if you need help ( I worked in insurance for yrs..)
