Can First Responders Cut the Gas Lines?
If you work for a utility can you cut the gas line? I guess if these guys cant get to work how is the city going to get their electric, phones, etc.? Does anyone know? My DH's boss never mentioned this to him so I doubt its true.
Thanks!

Re: Can First Responders Cut the Gas Lines?
Hi,
Yes, your DH and other utility workers can go ahead on the gas lines. All they have to do is go to the cop, show their ID and they will allow them to pump. My FH works for ConED and was told this by the officer this morning. He is considered a first responder despite being a cop/firemen/emt.
I hope this helps.

Thanks! He works for a different company but I guess it is true since his coworker was told this by the cop after waiting on line. None of them are aware though so not sure why they were not informed.

Yes and they should. Anyone who is working to get us up and running needs fuel before the idiots who think they need gas to go to the mall.

Just wondering - what about doctors and nurses? They should get priority also. Do they go to the front of the line also? They should!

Yes they should too. Anyone who provides an essential service should! In my mind that includes first responders, utility workers, and medical profession.

Agree. What about teachers?!? NYC is opening tomorrow. My kids' school is only near 2 bus lines, far from subways or LIRR. I pray the teachers can get in!

We are actively organizing carpools, etc. DH works at a school like the one you describe and he's been saving his full tank to go to work. Speaking for my colleagues that I am friends with: we are doing everything we can to be there for the kids tomorrow.
