Can I ask about dog poop? (sorry too much information) UPDATED AND A QUESTION
For the last 2-3 days my dog has been having watery diarrhea in the morning and by the afternoon it is a little better and then by the evening a little bit better than before (like soft serve ice cream--sorry, gross I know)!!!!! I have been feeding him chicken hoping it would help and not giving him any treats. He normally eats wet food (becuase he will not eat dry)---cesars meals. But I just dont know what to do anymore or why this is happening. Can it be the heat? We have been very careful not to give him any table food in the past week. He is still very playful and running around but his poop issue is just not fixing itself. What else can I do??? Thank you
UPDATE----well last night and today his poop has been completely normal Would you still take him to the vet or just keep an eye on it. ---(I stopped feeding him the chicken and just went back to giving him the cesars food.)

Re: Can I ask about dog poop? (sorry too much information)
I would certainly stop with the chicken and dont start giving anything else. You dont want to introduce ANYTHING new at this point so you can see what his body will do in usual conditions. If you started the chicken after the poop changed, then its not the chicken. I would take him to the dr.
But I would just resume normal food and if it doesnt get better in a day or two, you should take a little sample of t he poop to the vet when you go so they can test for worms, etc.
If I give my dogs some kinds of table food, they may have loose poop for a day or two. But then I stop giving the table food and the poop hardens up.
Also if I even switch the dog food (lets say you always feed him the beef dog food but one day you gave the liver dog food) he can get diarreha.

Re: Can I ask about dog poop? (sorry too much information)
I'm not sure about this, but I know my mother mentioned the other day that Ceaser's (which is what she feeds her dogs) has changed. If so, that might be the problem.
Try feeding the dog boiled chop meat and rice for a day or two and see if that firms up the poop. If not, call your vet immediately. The boiled chop meat and rice usually worked for me -two parts rice to one part chop meat - you are trying to bind up their system.
Good luck and I hope your puppy feels better soon.!

We give Katie a little bit of white rice with her food when she has problems and it works.

Re: Can I ask about dog poop? (sorry too much information)
When you say wet food, do you mean canned? My dog can only eat small amounts of it. It is tough on their stomachs, and it's good for their teeth if they have some dry food. You can mix dry with wet and your dog should at least take in some of the dry (I hope so). I would talk to a vet about what to do next. They may want you to withdraw food altogether for a day or so, then reintrodice something very mild. When my vet had us do that, my dog got IV fluids. Your dog may already be dehydrated. In the meantime, add some rice, if you have not already.

I would continue to monitor him for the next 24 hours, if everything goes back to normal then I would skip the vet...but If not, def bring him to the vet...stay away from the table food and I would limit the amt of wet food you give him too...maybe put a little rice in his dry food instead

agreed. only I would not change anything right now...just your usual food, nothing else so you can def rule out if it is what he is eating

I would still take him to the vet just to make sure he doesn't have Giardia which is a parasite that goes dormant from time to time. It messes with the dog's stomach... Cooper's had it before and it's easily fixed with a shot and some meds. Also, people can get it too, so again, it probably isnt a bad idea.
