Can I find out who bought my neighbors house?
My neighbor moved out a couple of weeks ago and they told us that they sold the house to the "state". There has been a contractor there a couple of times and oil company but nobody has been around and no one is living in the house.
Is there anyway I can find out what is going on? Will the town be able to tell me?

I would call the town and find out, especially since they sold it to the state. Not sure what that means. I know DH's friend from work had a house on his block that was sold to the county and they turned into a half way house for recovering drug addicts. The whole neighborhood went crazy and tried to stop it but there was nothing they could do. I would definetely call to find out.

You can also check with the county clerk to see a copy of the deed.

maybe you should go over and ask the contractors, not for the names but for an idea of it was just real estate company. it happened to the house across the street from me and I just asked.

You can also check with the county clerk to see a copy of the deed.
If they only sold a couple of weeks ago, there's no way the deed's been filed yet. The clerks are usually pretty backed up on that.
