Can I officially join this board???

After a difficult end of my pregnancy, my little girl arrived on Thursday, March 19th!!!! I am so in love. Alexis Michele (8lbs 3oz and three weeks early!) is a great baby and DH and I are over the moon. The delivery was okay - the c-section wasn't as bad as I thought, it was the recovery that was tough. The pain was quite intense, but surprisingly, I handled it much better than I (or anyone else) ever thought I would. Unfortunately, preeclampsia set in AFTER my delivery. My blood pressure has been VERY high, the swelling horrible, and my reflexes crazy. I had to stay in the hospital one extra day because they would not release me with my numbers so high (which was very disappointing). I am on a TON of medicine, and it seems to be slowly helping. We finally came home today and I couldn't be happier to be home with the family :)


Any advice for a new mommy dealing with preeclampsia? I'd really appreciate any advice you can offer - I am feeling so so and am really scared, especially while caring for a new born.

Welcome and congratulations!!!!!!

As for dealing with such a tough recovery from a c-section, let everyone help you!!!!!!!! Not sure who you have around, but take it! When I went back into the hospital with the same complications as you, my parents actually drove the 8 hours to be here to help DH out with a newborn.

If you have no family around, look into a mother's helper or ask around for help. There is no shame in asking for help! I felt like I was a failure for not being physically ready to take on a newborn. I look back at how I felt and I am now ashamed at myself for feeling like a failure. If you need anyone to talk to, I am here.
