Can I share a pregnancy article I wrote for my company newsletter?
Ok so only about 2000 people read this little newsletter...but its my first attempt at an actual pregnancy related article..I work in catering, and they asked me to write a little something on putting together an article on baby shower menus..(i left off the menu part but am sharing the other stuff.)
Thought you guys might like to read it, i tried to make it funny!
What to Expect When You’re Expecting... Lunch
You’re tired. You’re moody. You’re a little irritable. Not to mention swollen to the point where your ankles now need their own zip code. BUT somehow you’ve made it this far, managing to exude that “glow” and “radiance” that accompanies pregnancy. (Doctors will tell you that “glow” is a severe lack of oxygen to the brain, causing one to lose her wallet, her dignity and eventually her mind…but I digress…so where was I?? Oh right..). So your job is nearing an end, and your eagerly awaited, “nine months of hormonal flux” prize is in sight…NO I DON’T MEAN THE BABY! I mean, yeah, of course the baby is a great reward and all, yada yada yada, however what I’m talking about is the BABY SHOWER!! A mass gathering of all the important women in your life clucking and cooing over each delicate baby ensemble adorned with puppies, flowers, and little baby booties to match. You sit there as the guest of honor, feverishly ripping through paper and boxes thinking of nothing other than the size of your appetite (which just about matches the size of those ankles!) and wonder “What’s for lunch??!!”. Well to anyone in the throes of planning a baby shower, or for any moms-to-be out there who need to pass on their culinary desires to those around them, I’ve assembled the “Mother of all Menus”-guaranteed to leave the expectant mother in your life feeling happy, full and completely satiated- for at least one hour. Now keep in mind not all items are a necessity to throw the perfect shower, however-like the old saying goes-“A well fed mom-to-be is a beautiful sight to see”. You say you’ve never heard of that saying? Hmmm. Check back with me next month when I publish my article entitled “Never argue with a pregnant lady”. Happy and healthy 9 months to all!

I like your style-people will probably be like "whats satiated?" You have a very humourous way about writing

Thanks everyone!! The menu is really just a collection off our "snack breaks items.." Here are some of them in case anyone cares, lol...its bittersweet catering in virginia...

Fiesta (Seven Layer Dip) Layers of vegetarian refried beans, chopped lettuce, salsa, scallions, cheddar cheese, sour cream and guacamole served with corn tortilla chips.
Cheese and Fruit Display A variety of premium domestic and imported cheeses garnished with seasonal fruit and served with assorted crackers.
Asparagus Wrapped in Proscuitto Poached asparagus spears wrapped in Italian proscuitto
Crab and Artichoke Dip Select Chesapeake Bay crabmeat and artichoke hearts in a creamy parmesan cheese dip served hot with assorted crackers.
Sweet Potato Biscuits Freshly baked sweet potato biscuits filled with your choice of smoked turkey breast and cranberry chutney or prosciutto and Brie with whole grain mustard.
Cheddar Chive Biscuits Freshly baked cheddar chive biscuits filled with your choice of smoked ham and honey mustard or curry chicken salad
Double-sized yellow, chocolate and carrot cupcakes frosted with Bittersweet’s famous buttercream icing and whimsically decorated.
