Us too. Alex loves them. She eats at least 2 a day.

I'm sure this is stupid, but they don't have a problem with the skin? I'm so terrified of choking that I cut them up, but it would be nice not to have to.

I think the acid would upset the tummy, but I do believe the body releases excess vitamin C via urine.

Re: Can kids eat too much citrus?

It's possible that the citric acid may cause a rash around the mouth.

From WebMD:

Vitamin C

"Most people think it's fine to take as much as they want," says Rosenbloom. "I know people who take 10,000 mg a day." However, the upper tolerable limit is 2,000 mg a day. "People at risk for kidney stones can increase that risk; people also can get diarrhea. Some people have complained of food poisoning, but it turned out they had taken too much vitamin C. People just aren't aware how potent these vitamin supplements are."

From another site, their testing showed that an average orange has 88 mg. Since clementines are smaller, we'll say 50mg.

Just keep the clementine consumption to less than 40 a day, and you should be fine... Chat Icon Chat Icon

I know that if Noah eats too much citrus he tends to get diaper rash. It goes away quickly, but it does get icky.

Noah doesn't so much eat them, he crushes them with his fists, then he squeezes the juice out, then he svcks the remainder of the juice out, then he makes a pile of svcked on ones, another pile of whole ones, and the rest...well he just throws them on the floor
