Can Rocky go in my pool? or should we get him a kiddie pool?

Is it safe for Rocky to swim in the pool? I was thinking no because of the chlorine and other chemicals. But my fiancee is saying its ok. I just wanted to buy him a kiddie pool.

Any thoughts?

My FIL's dog (springer spaniel) jumps in the pool all the time. She loves it. All of the dogs DH had when growing up used to swim in the pool. I don't think it's a problem.

Brodie goes in my in-law's pool all the time!

He loves it!

You just have to make sure that if you have a liner, you train Rocky to use the steps or ladder and not scratch up your sides.

Max goes in the pool all the time--usually every day in the summer. I taught him to use the stairs so he doesn't scratch the liner. Also, I try to hose him down as much as I can to get the chlorine off his skin--otherwise he seems to get really itchy and I think it's cause the chlorine makes him dry.

Peanut (my 6lb Pomeranian) loves the pool!! I just make sure to give her a bath once she gets out. The chlorine is only bad because it makes their skin dry and flaky.

I'd agree with this. Maybe if you can condition Rocky's hair with doggie conditioner? I do let my dogs in the pool, but we have a salt pool, not chlorine.
