Can someone explain life insurance policy differences to me ??

Term-vs-Whole ( at least I think thats what its called )

I really would like for us to get some sort of policies going and I am so confused ...I requested quotes from State Farm ( since thats who we have our auto/home through) and the prices were !!!)

Any reccomendations and any price examples would be appreciated Thanks !
