can someone give me info on shortened cervix?
I know i dont post really but i am very nervous. i had a cervical procedure a few years back and am 22 weeks pregnant now. my doctors have been monitoring my cervix length and i just found out last night that it has shortened to 2.8. they want me to come back on monday. my question is, has anyone gotten a cerclage this late? the doctor said they can look at that option if it changes again. Any advice would be greatly appreciated since i am very nervous!

I am 18 weeks with twins and no cerclage... BUT my doctor told me about this woman who was dilated 3 cm at 21 weeks and he did a cerclage on her and put her on hospital bedrest. She was able to hold the babies in for a month after that and they were born at 25 weeks -healthy. ONly on a ventilator for one day each.  Of course, she was far past you because she was already actually dilated.

I had a cerclage placed recently at 18 weeks, and i was slight funnelling. My cervix had shortened down to 1.1. It start shortening at 17 weeks. Now i am almost 21 weeks and my cerlcage is holding its own. My cervical length went back up too 2.5 and i have been doing great. I am also on strict bedrest as well.You are going to do very well. First off, ur CL is 2.8, 3 is the cut off so u are right there. Second if they do perform the cerlcage ur lenght is going to go above 3. You may want to talk to him about bedrest. And definitly modify your activity.
Unfortunately there is no way of knowing when labor will happen, or if it even will. I mean they thought i was going to lose this baby at 17 weeks, and now its a month later.
Cerclages have been proving to be very successful, almost 90% success rate, and most women carry to full term. I hope this helps.

thanks so much for the info. i am glad its going well for you. so scary all the things that can happen! i am basically just going to work and go home the next few days until my next appt.

thanks so much for the info. i am glad its going well for you. so scary all the things that can happen! i am basically just going to work and go home the next few days until my next appt.
Yes it is very scary. And honestly, at least for me anyway you are always going to be nervous from here on out, but it does get easier. And you just have to take it easy, be positive, and don't let your head go anywhere else.
