Can someone help me identify a bug? (that i saw IN my house)
So I've seen these little bugs in my house, about 3 of them. One was bigger than the others but overall they are pretty small. They are small, black, oval-shaped, and I believe the legs are around the outside of the oval but I am not sure, And this is gross, but I don't think they are mushy - when I grabbed one with a tissue, it felt hard I found 1 by my DS' window, the other on his curtain, and the third in my room on the bedspread. What the F are these? And how do I get rid of them?
I was going to do an image search of bugs on google but I can't, I'll get so grossed out - scared of what else I might see.
Please help!
ETA: Ewwwwww, did an image search on water bugs and saw some nasty things.
But, no, I don't think they are water bugs.
Any other ideas?

Could be some type of beetle? I had one or two in the house like you described that the dog took care of.

I've seen these before. I get them in my house on or near the windows in the spring and summer months.
ETA: they are called black carpet beetles.

it sounds like what my mother calls carpet beetles, which are very tiny.

This happened to me too (I FREAKED when one was in my bed!) I did an extensive search and showed my exterminator. It was a spider beetle. Very common in older houses/buildings and during humidity.
Try to seal any cracks you have between molding and baseboard. I put tape there to see if it was coming from the crack. Two days later I lifted the tape, there they were stuck to it.
I sealed the crack..so far so good!

Sounds like carpet beetles. I had them before. I did a huge cleaning and they went away, though every year I see one or two in the spring.

I think they're carpet beetles also...we get them every year, usually by the windows. I hate them!!

Hmmm, I just googled them and while I didn't linger on the images too long I think they might be carpet beetles.
Gross! Any way to get rid of them or keep them away?

It's a carpet beetle...they come through the screens of your house too. They are gross.

just do a really good cleaning. Check out pots and pans in your kitchen that you don't use often. I've found the larva there as well!

Check between the mattresses, the seam between the rug and the baseboard - it could also be bed bugs which can live in anything fabric, not just beds....

Scared me with this one but no, they are not bed bugs (googled the image and well, no other signs it could be them)
Carpet beetles seem to be the winners

Re: Can someone help me identify a bug? (that i saw IN my house)
Carpet beetles are THE WORST! We had the larva last summer and they ate holes in our clothes! I had to wash every single thing I could in hot water, curtains, all our clothes, EVERYTHING and super, super cleaned and nothing worked. We told our landlord that we have never even seen a bug like this before, that it must have been here before we moved in (we found them a month after we moved in) and he said that it was probably from our cats (um no, get out of here) I was doing a lot of research and it was saying that there could possibly be something dead around the outside of the house like a mouse or bird and that the larva are attracted to dead things because they clean everything off the bones (gross). We looked everywhere but couldn't find anything dead but we do have a crawl space that our landlord went in and he said he didn't see anything. Also could be in the attic eaves but he never checked there. We hired an exterminator after we found the larva in the dresser drawers in DS room and in the dishes that were clean in the cabinets... I couldn't take it anymore. Luckily, a family friend is an exterminator and used something that wasn't super harmful because of the cats and baby he also didn't do the nursery, we just took everything out and rewashed it all after he sprayed the rest of the house and cleaned good and hoped for the best. He sprayed in October, we found 5 more the next month which he said was normal, that it takes time. After that, none until May when we found these weird looking beetles, sorta like ladybugs but black with white dots and smaller. Looked it up, it was the grown up version of the larva. Carpet beetles were back. Called the exterminator, he said because of the huge amount of rain that we had then that it was normal for bugs to be coming into the house to get out of the rain. He sprayed again. Nothing ever since. I pray they never came back.
