Can someone please explain the allure of Farmville to me?

I'm serious.

I don't "get it". (I feel like Tom Hanks in big... )

What is the fun in it? What do you do?


Someone, please help me understand the phenomena known as Farmville.

Oh and FTR, even though I'm signed up for YoVille, I don't play that either - didn't get the fun in that one either.

Please, help me see the light!

It's kind of a strategy game. Time waster, however. I love it. I hate video games but, I love this since it's not killing or sports. It kind of reminds me of Oregon Trail. Remember that?

I only signed up for Farmville & YoVille b/c DH went to bed early one night & I was bored.

Yo Ville bored me. too much like the Simms, which I hate.

Farmville is cute and there is strategy invloved deciding what to spend your tiem & money on.

I think the fun will wear off quickly though.

I like the organization of it. My farm is all neatly arranged and everything has its place.
It feeds my OCD.

And I just beat my husband's score and he started playing months before me, so it's made me a teensy bit competitive!

i can't explain it -- i just love it! haha

i harvest all the crops and love seeing them bloom and it kills time at work like any game. plus i love making my farm bigger and buying little decorations for it and building things like my cottage, tool shed, barn, etc.

there's no rhyme or reason to it--its so silly but i'm addicted.

I never saw why it would be so interesting either. Then I started playing Farmtown and realized I liked it, a lot. But it was slow and annoying so I stopped. Now I'm playing Farmville and it's better for me so I'm hooked again!

But I know some people that have tried it and it just didn't 'take' or they didn't have time. So their poor farms lay to waste.

I tried Yoville and Mafia wars but got bored. It is too slow.

Then I got into Farmville. You kind of plan you crops, what time you need to harvest since there are different harvest type and timing, which one is more profitable. You get more as you go up in levels.

I get to "design" the way my farm looks. And like someone else says, it let's me indulge in my own OCD.

It's kind of time management too.

DH "HAD TO" harvest my fields this weekend while I was working. He said it was the stupiest game he even played. And that's OK. I have fun with it right now.

I REFUSE to use real money to get further in any games though so I will pass on the pink barn.

Thank you all for explaining it to me because I have to admit after trying YoVille I was like what is the point??

Yoville was slow and boring with seemingly no rhyme or reason to it other than you milling around in some hotel lobby!

But after hearing these explanations about strategy and time management I just might take a go at it. Unfortunately, I don't get onto FB everyday, is that going to be a problem?

I gave up on my farm after I hit level 8 or 9. I’m a quitter.

Every day I would have like 15 gifts waiting for me and it would take me forever just to approve them all… I guess I’m not patient enough to be a farmer.

I hate YoVille. I have it so that my FB friends can claim me as part of their gang or whatever. But I don't use it at all.. it was boring.

Now FARMVILLE .. don't do it Jenn.. just don't. Even though having you on it would give me another neighbor I have to warn you that it's like friggin' crack. I have NO IDEA why I play it .. but I can't stopy.
