First thing is a CD3 blood test, usually. They check all your hormone levels (E2 - estrogen, FSH - Follicle Stimulating Hormone, Beta and mmm something else, can't remember..)
All you do is go to Quest for bloodwork -- IF your GYN agrees to send you! Some gyns will not until you have been ttc for a year. So lie...

So far I've had blood work and an internal sono. Nothing has been painful. I've read of other procedures where they check to see if your tubes are blocked, etc. I don't think anyone wrote they were really painful--some discomfort and cramping I think were the basic feelings. Good Luck.

HSG (hystersalpinogram) is to check to see if your tubes are blocked. Before that they may just do an ultrasound, whci as kra5h mentioned is not painful at all. The HSG can be uncomfortable, but it was no big deal for me.
