Can someone recommend a phone/smartphone for an older person where texting is easier for them to text?
I pay for my my Dad's phone, he is under my plan and he has a really old flip open phone.
For his birthday I want to get him a better phone that is more user friendly for him.
I'd like for him to be able to text and receive pictures without him having to squint and give up.
Any recommendations?

My mom/dad are text-handicapped and they've done really well with the iphone. They didn't wanna pay for a brand new one so they ended up buying on when there was some .99 sale for the 3G. They both have it under TMobile as prepaid phones and they both do really well with the full keyboard (they didn't get the whole.. click..click..click.. C!) thing. LOL

My inlaws who are 75+ can operate and text perfectly with an iPhone. You can make the font, etc larger too if needed

My mom has the Pantech Ease with AT&T and loves it! It has a regular mode and then there is the easy mode where everything is larger and more basic. She has had this phone for a while now. I think there is a newer version but she said she is not interested in upgrading. I think I might get it for her anyway for mothers day.
Pantech Ease
ETA: she does not have a data plan for this because she only uses it for calls and text messages. She does not go online or use her email on this phone.

For smartphones: The iPhone is probably the most user friendly for an older person but the Samsung Galaxy S3 has a significantly bigger screen.
Either way, I'd download Swiftkey which anticipates your words based on your typing history.
