It looks like that is next on my list of things to do.

Also if and GD moms read this, what do you eat if you ended up with GD?

I went to the office, drank the stuff and they did a blood test when I finished and the next three hours after that. I had to sit there so I brought a book w/ me!

I have GD. They had me skip the 3 hr. and go right to the endocrinologist because my # was so high. As far as eating, they pretty much want you to cut out all sweets and sugars and the carbs you eat should be complex carbs like whole wheat breads and whole grains. Fruit is ok but not in the morning. Basically I am limited to 15g of carbs at breakfast, 15g carbs for my morning snack, 45g carbs for lunch, 15g carbs for afternoon snack, 60g carbs for dinner, and 30g carbs for nighttime snack. It was hard in the beginning but now it's second nature to me. I know what I can have, I know what meals keep my sugars in check, and honestly.......I also know what sweets I can have (if I crave something) so that my sugar won't spike. It's an adjustment but you get use to it. I also take insulin with breakfast, lunch, and dinner and at bedtime. Good luck!! Chat Icon

When I did the one hour, the lady told me that I should bring water because at Sunrise they take a urine sample each hour in addition to the blood...they didn't do this last time at Quest though.

Do you have to fast for the 3 hour? I didn't have to for the 1 hour.

Yep, it's a pen. The one I take during the day is called Humalog and the bedtime pen is called Humalin. Very easy to use, pop a needle on, and stick it in. Does not hurt at all!! It's also very easy to adjust your insulin dosage.......you just dial in however many units you need.

I had a similar diet, but my protein was also limited. I was not allowed any sweets at all because mine was very challenging to manage. It stinks, but other pregnancy conditions are far worse. Plus, you'll be eating the healthiest you ever have! The diet is great for the baby.
