Can we discuss the call I received from daycare today?
My cell phone rang this morning and I missed it.....I call them back for them to tell me that Gavin's teacher wanted me to know that he needed diapers........Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy....
On his gram from yesterday it said he needed diapers but I figured I could bring them tomorrow, they usually give me a few days before he's empty.
So I asked the director if he was OUT of diapers, because I was only notified yesterday..... she said "Oh, if she's out she can maybe borrow and replace.....I asked her to tell the teacher to next time let me know when he's running LOW on diapers so I have a few days to buy them, which I thought we were doing anyway.
Now does this require a phonecall? There's nothing I can do at this point anyway, I'm in Woodbury and he's in East Rockaway. DH says I'm overreacting to be a little annoyed.

Did it require a phone call? No. Short of an emergency room visit or illness, there is no need to call. Write a note that you want to talk to me with times that are best & I'll call you when I'm not busy.
But he's out of diapers. If she wrote you a few notes about it & thought you didn't see it, then a call is a courtesy (depending on the delivery, of course).
HOWEVER, my husband was notorious for not bringing notes home. Try explaining to a 2 year old, in the 10 minutes you have to catch a train, that she's the only one not wearing pajamas for Pajama Day because Mommy didn't know about it & Daddy didn't take the huge note taped to the cubby or notice the signs up stating FRIDAY IS PAJAMA DAY. Then you won't mind at all.

Don't you love those calls....Hi Mrs. X it's X...it's not an emergency....
Makes me panic every time!
I don't think it required a call just a note on the gram and maybe a mention by the teacher tonight.

Re: Can we discuss the call I received from daycare today?
Crashing-
I worked in a day care for almost 4 years.
If a parent was notified that their child needed diapers, and they were not brought in after being told repeatedly- THEN they got a phone call. Not after one time.
OR- If they were completely out and needed to borrow, they were asked to replace the borrowed diapers, along with bringing them in for their own child. But again, this warrants a phone call only after repeated attempts.
They should have just spoken to you first, and said they were needed the next day. They should have told you that to begin with. Why didn't the teacher tell you this morning?

I wouldn't mind getting the call (after the initial relief of knowing all is OK.) But I think I would have had a discussion directly with the teacher in the room when I went ot pickup, instead of getting into it with the director unless them waiting too long to tell you becomes a habit.
Our daycare does a pretty good job of telling me they need things when they are running low, not running out.
But I will say, this is the reason I am always stocked up on diapers and wipes at home. When they write on the gram that they need it, I bring it in the very next day. My DS is the biggest in his class and I am sure none of the other kids in his room wear the same size as him. I want to make it as easy as possible for them to take care of my DS right away when he needs something.
