Can we discuss the law-move over for a stopped police car( or any service car for that matter)?
I drive in the HOV lane. Does this mean that whenever I see a cop car who pulled someone over in the shoulder of the HOV lane that I should cross over illegally into the left lane? Usually, by the time I can get over without being hit I have passed the cop car. I know this goes for drivers in the right lane who see a cop stopped in the shoulder too. I'm a little confused of the specifics and wanted to hear how you all approach the scenario.
Thanks

I would call your local police station and ask. This is a tough one.
My inital thought is YES< move over. The law for moving over is MORE important than the"Thou shalt not break HOV lane" law.
my 2 cents.

I wanted to come on here and discuss this law so many times. I feel like no one knows about it, I think I have seen one other car pull over besides myself since the law was enacted. Do they not know or just don't care?

You dont have HAVE to move over, if you are unable to move over, you just have to SLOW down.

This! I asked DH about this and that's what he said. He said technicall speaking, you were really always supposed to move over. If you can't and it's not always possible, then you should slow down.

I believe you are to move over if it is safe to do so. If you can not you need to slow down, I believe to under 40 MPH

I do not think you should cross over the HOV Line. I think that is even more dangerous because people in the left lane are expecting you to stay in that HOV lane until you can safely exit.

I've always wondered this myself as someone who uses the HOV lane everyday. What I do is slow down as much as I can and move to as far right in the lane as I can while still staying in the lane.

You should be slowing down-not illegally moving over to the next lane.
